What is That Layover Life?
A travel storytelling platform and community engine for repeat travelers, expats, and anyone who turns a six-hour connection into a story worth telling. Humans write it, an editor reads every word, and it goes live in 48 hours. Free to read.
Is it free to read and to contribute?
Yes to both. Free to read, free to submit, free forever for travelers. A paid tier may add premium features later, but existing accounts always keep a free option and we never paywall published stories.
How do I get published, and do I keep my byline?
Sign in, click Pen a Tale, and fill the form. You choose your credit per story — named, pen name, or Anonymous Traveler — and you keep your copyright. We light-edit for clarity and Charter alignment, never your voice, and publish within 48 hours.
Can I include my own links and affiliate links?
Yes, labeled. Affiliate and personal links are welcome as long as they're disclosed, never hidden. Press and affiliate status is a profile field, so it surfaces at the top of every piece.
Can I travel with my dog in the EU?
Yes, with the paperwork in order: an EU pet passport, a microchip implanted before the rabies shot (the order matters), and for some routes a FAVN titer test that can take months — so plan ahead. The Paw Passport page covers the logistics, verified large-dog-friendly hotels included.
Do you accept press and tourism-board trips?
Yes, disclosure-first. Every hosted or gifted trip is labeled at the top of the story, never buried in a footnote. Press travelers and tourism boards are welcome through the For Press door.
Still have a question?
A human reads the ones written by humans.
